Contexto y Código is a blog about software development and artificial intelligence. The purpose is a concrete one: that you know more about your craft after reading than before, and that it shows in the next day's work.

Keeping up to date stopped being something you solve by reading announcements. A new tool comes out every week and almost none of them change how you work. The ones that do are a handful a year, and telling them apart from the rest takes time. This blog picks that handful and explains them in enough detail to actually use them, not just to know they exist.

Some articles cover development that does not go out of fashion: databases, version control, testing, security, performance. The rest cover artificial intelligence applied to writing code, which is what changes fastest right now. Both get the same treatment.

The name plays on two senses of the word "context". There is the context you hand a language model, which decides almost everything it gives back. And there is the context needed to understand why a technical decision was the right one at the time — the part that gets lost when only the code remains.

What you will find

Long articles, with examples you can run and nothing taken for granted that has not been explained first. When something changes and an article goes out of date, I revise it and mark it with an updated date instead of deleting it.

Language

Every article is written in Spanish and in English. The two versions are written, not machine-translated: technical writing that has been run through a translator reads like it, and the terms that matter are exactly the ones such a tool gets wrong.

Comments

Anyone can read without signing up. Leaving a comment or marking an article as liked requires signing in with Google or GitHub: no new password is created, and only your name and profile picture are stored.

Comments are shared between both languages. A discussion about an article is about the article, not about which version you happened to read.

If you find a mistake in an article, a comment is the best place to say so. It gets fixed, and the record stays.
